Meetings & Events USA and our Customers, Partners and Friends make sick children’s days a little brighter!
Armed with donations from our customers, partners and friends, doubled by the company match, Sandy Reynolds, Daniel Morris and Calvin Gale delivered $4400 in toys and gift cards to the children at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.
Sandy Reynolds, CMP, President of Meetings & Events USA formed a close relationship with the staff and mission of St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center Child Life Department during the past 3 years while her nephew Calvin underwent treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. During this time she saw how the children in the hospital, as well as their families, benefited from the efforts of the Child Life staff. These specialists work ”to minimize the psychological stress and pain related to hospitalization, and promote the optimum development of children and their families by helping them maintain normal living routines.”
When the time came to celebrate the conclusion of Calvin’s chemotherapy treatment, Sandy felt that giving back to Child Life Department would be a fitting way to thank the staff and help other children. Sandy’s contacts responded generously to her outreach and this outpouring is estimated to touch over 300 families by providing toys and electronics that will help children in the unit focus on play instead of sickness. “The joy Calvin felt shopping for toys for the other children is hard to describe,” said Sandy, “through him, I know that those who receive treatment at St. Luke’s are served by the best staff and I can only hope that these gifts help brighten their days.”
